The new upcoming movie “The Social Network” is the hot topic of movies now. It is a movie based on the character who developed the billion dollar idea, Facebook. The movie revolved around the creator’s struggle and obstacles he undergoes in order to get his idea out to the public. Currently 500,00 users are on facebook. If facebook were a country, it would be the 3rd largest country in the world! This billion dollar idea to me is one of the remarkable ideas i have seen in the past decade. This movie will sure be fantastic so head over and watch it!

England’s once most valuable player, David Beckham, is reaching the final stages in his futbol career. For the past year, Beckham has been suffering from an achilles tendon injury that has held him back from his game. Because of this injury, it forced him to miss his fourth World Cup and could not participate to help England qualify for the second round. Beckham was once one of the world’s greatest futbol players. He was known for his deadly corner kicks and his swift free kicks that he could score from a distance. There was even a movie in tribute to Beckham called “Bend it Like Beckham”. Beckham has now reached 35 years old and will most likely not see another futbol game in his career.
Just on Wednesday August 4th, Proposition 8 was overturned in California. In November of 2008, voters voted that gay marriage would be banned in the state of California, angering many gay rights activists in the state. But recently, a federal judge ruled that this ruling was unconstitutional and violated the Constitution’s equal protection and due process rights clause. This is a huge step in gay rights and came as a shock to many voters who voted against this case back in 2008.
So here we go again. Shaq has moved from team to team about three times since he has left the Los Angeles Lakers, in search for another title. First he moved to the Miami Heat, then to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and now to the Boston Celtics. I mean does he really need to move to these big teams in order to get another ring? Shaq signed in a two year deal worth about $3.5 million. These will probably be the last few years of his career and he is hoping that they will end with at least one more ring. The Celtics needed a center like Shaq because they recently lost their starting center Kendrick Perkins to injury. With all these big names in the NBA being traded to different teams, will the Lakers be able to pull off another championship?
Last night aired the first episode of the highly anticipated new season of the Jersey Shore. In this season, the old cast from last season is being sent back to the east coast to Miami where they are all set in a house to live the life of partying. This season has already had a lot of drama, even after one episode, when a previous member of the house that was kicked off the first season, returned. Angela came back to the second season and was already being treated like trash by the other members of the house. The episode ended with clips showing future episodes and all the drama that is soon to come. Season 1 became very popular and was the most viewed show on MTV. I mean, it is the perfect show for the audience of MTV. Young men living in the perfect home with beautiful women partying every night. I mean, which guy or girl between the ages of 16 and 26 wouldnt want to watch this?
“The Hills” stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have recently filed for divorce….Who cares? I mean this show is stupid enough with a bunch of pretty boys and excessive make-up barbies running through the streets of los angeles. Why should the public care if these two get a divorce? To me, its all mumbo jumbo, I think its all for attention and acknowledgment. But I mean, if this type of junk sells, then the newspapers should go ahead and print as many copies as they can to make advertisement money.
Now that all that talk about the big 3 in Miami is over… is there going to be a new big 3 competing against Miami next year? Chris Paul has been speaking to New York and Mike D’antoni to work out a deal that would put New Orlean’s Chris Paul and Denver’s Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks. The Knicks have already signed NBA All-Star Amare Stoudemire to their team, along with Former NBA Superstar Tracy Mcgrady. Could this be the new big 3? Will they be able to defeat the Lebron-Wade-Bosh trio? Time will only tell. If all goes well, i do believe that these 3 will rise to the top. Paul-Melo-Amare are arguably the best players in their positions in the league right now. Some are upset about teams building up a team based on superstars. Wasn’t the NBA supposed to be about passion and carrying a team that you’ve been playing with all your life? I mean the fans love their stars and it would be heartbreaking to see them leave. I guess the Lakers will have new worthy competitors in the upcoming NBA season.
So what is it that everybody has been talking about lately? That’s right, Inception. Inception hit the theaters July 16 and ever since, it has been the thing that everybody has been chatting about. It was already being anticipated as a great film since it was Nolan’s first film after the classic “The Dark Knight” which is regarded to as one of the greatest films of the decade. Inception is about a thief, Cobbs, who uses a person’s subconscious and enters his dream to extract secret information from big and powerful businessmen. But during one incident, he went so far into a dream that he got lost and got trapped into an infinite time space known as limbo. It is arguably Nolan’s greatest film thus far, surpassing The Dark Knight. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a must see! If you have not seen it yet, get off this site and hit your closest theater.
Owner of Apple, Steve Jobs, addresses a response to the frequent heard problem of the new Iphone 4. Many people have been arguing that the reception on the phone is really bad and has made many customers unhappy. Users complain that the iPhone’s signal bars drop out if they hold the phone near the lower left corner. The blame is put on the designers of the phone. But Jobs is here to come up with a solution to this problem! Free….cases? Yes, Jobs is offering a free 29$ case to anyone who purchased the newly released Iphone 4. Jobs never directly admitted to any problem with the product and calls it “The best product Apple has ever made”. The Iphone 4 is one of the fastest growing pieces of technology in the market today.
Paul the Octopus is a German octopus that was born on January 2008 and was used by Germans to predict the outcomes of Germany’s matches in the 2010 Fifa World Cup. Paul was 8/8 in the 2010 World Cup and 12/14 overall with other predictions – 86% accuracy. What the owner does is it puts two boxes in it’s tank, the oppositions of the match, and his favorite food, mussels, is put into both containers. Paul then is put into the tank and is watched to see which box he chooses to eat out of. It is shocking because because he predicted 8 matches in a row, and the odds of that are 1/256. Unfortunately, after the Octopus recieved numerous death threats from various nations and book writers, the owner of the octopus decided to retire Paul and go back to his previous job, making children laugh. Whether or not this Octopus is a “psychic”, it sure did give the world amusement and a long laugh.
